Inspiration Challenge for the Divas

Good morning Divas! It's time for an inspiration challenge!

Since it's Thanksgiving in the US, our inspiration piece is appropriately a cornucopia:

I knew JUST what I wanted to do when I saw it, so I took out my Cherish Friendship set and stamped this:

I stamped the image in Basic Grey and then coloured the images using my blender pen. I had fun designing what I *thought* was a farm style table, but my hubby says it looks like a floor. Oh well! LOL!

Busy day today, so this is a short post, but please let me know what you think!

STAMPS: Cherish Friendship, Confetti (background)
INK: Crumb Cake, Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke
PAPERS: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Crumbcake
ACCESSORIES: Blender Pens

For the Office

Every year (at least as far back as I can remember - when you make cards, it's all a blur!) I make the cards for hubby to give to his co-workers at Christmas. There is only ONE stipulation - they can't say Merry Christmas. One of his co-workers celebrated Hanukah and not Christmas. I am happy to accommodate...especially with all the AMAZING stamps Stampin' UP! sells.

Here is this year's offering:

It's not a lot of cards (just 12), so I am happy to let hubby place his "custom" order - LOL! Of course, his "custom" order is "whatever you think is best babe".

This year, I decided to go with blue and silver instead of the traditional red and green and I just LOVE the way they turned out!!

I used the Designer Series Paper from the Festival of Prints packs in Island Indigo and the Silver Glimmer Paper. The DSP was run through the Big Shot (which, by the way, is on sale TODAY ONLY if you're reading this on Monday, November 19th!) It SAYS $122.95, but when you key it in or add it to your cart, you'll see it's just $98.36!

The sentiment was stamped in Island Indigo and I added the piece of glimmer paper underneath it.

What do you think?

Artistic Etchings...in PINK!!!

Happy Saturday peeps! It's Divas Sketch Challenge day! I've been working on a MOST adorable project (not quite done yet, but stay tuned!) and it used Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red. Since I had them out...

I started off chopping up the little squares for the Designer Series Paper panel. They're just 7/8" square! They were matted on a piece of Rose Red Cardstock and then on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.

The Eiffel Tower was stamped on Whisper White in Rose Red and fussy cut. The sentiment was also stamped on Whisper White in Rose Red and flagged before being adhered to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

What do you think?

Blue Christmas - My WAY!

Today's My WAY card is a Christmas card that was created from a card I received in my inbox a couple weeks ago. I loved the idea of using Midnight Muse and Crumb Cake and knew JUST what I wanted to do.

Check it out:

I started off with the Crumb Cake base and then added a layer of Midnight Muse on which I used my Whisper White Craft Ink to sponge around the edges.

The next step was to stamp the Merry & Type image onto the Crumb Cake Cardstock. It was also sponged with Whisper White Craft Ink and then matted onto a piece of Midnight Muse Cardstock which received the same sponging treatment.

The final step was the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and a Basic Pearl.

This card will be featured in one of my upcoming Christmas Stamp Camps. Have YOU signed up??

Better late than never!!

Thursday is normally Diva day, but I've been feeling under the weather the past few days and haven't been up to creating snuff (YES! Lindsay Bickford! I KNOW I need to slow down!). *grin*

Over this past weekend, however, my hubby asked me to create a card for a co-worker's baby shower (which is today). "And make it big", he said. "Lots of people have to sign it".

So here it is, a big card:

I started off with a full sheet of bashful blue and used a gate fold on it. I added the Bashful Blue Designer Paper from the DSP Stack and then went to town watercolouring the Two by Two image after stamping it on watercolour paper.

The image was then trimmed and matted on layers of Bashful Blue and Marina Mist (a Dynamic Duo - just check the Colour Coach).

The inside needed LOTS of writing space:

So that's what they got! I added some more Bashful Blue DSP and three Whisper White Panels (with doodling of course!) for all of Kim's co-workers to write in their well wishes.

What do you think?

STAMPS: Two by Two
INK: Black Staz-ON
PAPERS: Whisper White, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist Cardstock; Bashful Blue DSP, Watercolour Paper

Just for You for the Paper Craft Crew

Happy Wednesday! Today's card for the Paper Craft Crew features Midnight Muse and one of my favourite paper from the Catalogue this year, Comfort Cafe. The colours and the patterns are SO pretty!

I started off with the Midnight Muse base and added a layer of Very Vanilla. From there, I punched a piece of the Midnight Muse DSP with my scallop punch and added it to the front. I flagged two pieces of Designer Series Paper and then stamped one with Cajun Craze using the "Just for You" sentiment from Tea Shoppe.

The little paper flags were added to the card front and then I adhered the fussy-cut teacup using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here's the sketch on which the card was based:

You can check out what the rest of the crew did HERE.

Showing off for the Divas

When I saw today's colour challenge, I thought bright, show off...then I thought Peacock! And then I knew just what I wanted to do!

Check it out:

I started by stamping the peacock from World Treasures in Calypso Coral onto a piece of Very Vanilla. Then I did the same thing with Tempting Turquoise and Midnight Muse. Those colours were cut out and adhered over the Calypso Coral Peacock using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The sentiment was also stamped using Midnight Muse and hand cut before being adhered to the front of the card.

You can check out what the other Divas created HERE.

There's a new trimmer in town!

I've had the opportunity to play with the new trimmer over the past couple of weeks as Demonstrators were afforded an early ordering opportunity. You DEFINITELY want to add this tool to your stamping table!

Features of the All-New Stampin' Trimmer
  • An extra-wide 6-1/4" cutting base and an extended 14-1/2" ruler
    • The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4" (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
    • The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
    • The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
    • When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
    • The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16" and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
    • All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won't wear off.
    • The base has nonskid feet, which keeps the Stampin' Trimmer securely in place on your work area.
  • A full 12" cutting and scoring track
    • The extra-long cutting track has space at the top and bottom so you don't have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you're not using them.
    • The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12" (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles.
    • The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
    • The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
  • Specially designed handles and cutting track to ensure straight cuts
    • The hook on the scoring and cutting blade handles keeps the handles stable so the cuts are as straight as possible.
    • Handles come in two colors: dark for cutting, light for scoring.
    • The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you're cutting.
    • The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
  • Storage compartment under base
    • The storage compartment holds scoring and cutting tools such as a Bone Folder, Simply Scored Stylus, extra scoring and cutting blades, and even business cards.
    • Separate compartments within the storage compartment keep your tools organized, and the clear cover makes it easy to see what you've stored.
  • Product details: item 126889; $41.95

Above and Beyond for the Crew!

October was an INSANELY busy month and my Crew Creations came down to the wire!

My hubby was away a couple of weeks ago for business and he forgot to call me at breakfast like he said he would. I was feeling pretty unimportant and started getting upset/angry about the whole thing, so in order to turn my mood around, I decided to make him a card to remind myself of just how awesome he really is. Sometimes...he just doesn't plan very well and ends up having to rush around in order to get ready on time...he tries his best.

So, here's his card:

He works SO hard and goes above and beyond doing everything he does so that I can stay home and stamp...oh, and raise the kids...yeah...that too. *grin*.

I started off with the colours in the Festival of Prints pack since that was our DSP focus for November. I have the pack of paper, but didn't want to go "Christmas", so just used the colours.

I stamped the larger images first and then the smaller ones, ending with the clock which was stamped using the stamp-a-majig and Early Espresso Ink. Trust me when I tell, there really is NO other way to get it lined up. REALLY.
  • Here's a Stamp-a-majig tip for you: When you have a set you know you're going to use A LOT (or exclusively) with the Stamp-a-majig, order it in WOOD (trust me!) and stamp the images onto a window sheet using Staz-ON. Keep the window sheet with the stamp set and it'll always be ready to go! You can't do this with a clear set unless you're planning on permanently adhering the image to the block, because otherwise, it'll ALWAYS be in a different spot.
The sentiment was also stamped using Early Espresso. And of course, there's mush on the inside, but you don't get to see that. :)

What do you think?

STAMPS: Clockworks, One in a Million
INK: Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Crumb Cake
PAPERS: Very Vanilla and Early Espresso Cardstock

Thinking of You for the Divas

Oh how I struggled with this sketch today! My creative brain sort of comes and goes...at the moment, it's GONE! I ended up flipping the sketch and CASEing the lovely and talented Cindy Hall. Check it out:

When you see the sketch, you'll see what I mean about totally flipping it - LOL!

I started off with a Real Red base and embossed the layer of Whisper White before adding it to the card. The strip of Designer Series Paper on the right is Garden Green.

I stamped the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes in Real Red and cut it out. Yes, I have the dies, but I was being lazy - LOL!

The greeting from Beautiful Season and the stitched grosgrain ribbon are the finishing touches.

Here's the sketch (see? TOTALLY flipped!):

And you can check out what the other Divas have been up to HERE.
